Vietnam To Initiate Anti Dumping Investigation On Steel Imported From China, Taiwan, Indonesia and Malaysia
08 July 2013

Through directive No. 4460/QD-BCT, Vietnam Competition Authority (VCA) under the Ministry of Industry and Trade has announced that it will conduct anti dumping investigation on cold-rolled stainless steel imported from China, Taiwan, Indonesia and Malaysia.

The decision was made earlier last week after a complaint by two local steel manufacturers, POSCO VST Co. Ltd. and Hoa Binh Inox Joint Stock Company. They argue that steel products imported from the above mentioned countries should be liable for 20-40% anti dumping duty because they were being sold at much lower process than locally manufactured steel.

Products subject for investigation are steel products containing less than 1.2% carbon and more than 10.5% chromium from batches imported between 1 April 2012 to 31 March 2013. Currently, Vietnam imposes 10-20% import duties on these products.
