Safeguard duty imposed on Tarpaulins made from Synthetic Fibres apart from Awning and Sunblinds
10 November 2011

Pursuant to the Minister of Finance’s Decree No. 176/ PMK.011/2011 dated 17 November 2011, Indonesia is going to impose a safeguard measure on import of Tarpaulins made from Synthetic Fibres apart from Awning and Sunblinds (HS Ex. Code 6306.12.00.000 except Awning and Sunblinds) for a period of 3 (three) years.

The Applicant (PT Unggul Karya Semesta) and the Supporter of the Application (PT Politama Pakindo) submitted their views in the first Hearing held on 13 June 2011. The Second Hearing was held on 5 July 2011 to provide opportunities for the interested parties to submit their views and evidence.

Based on its investigation, KPPI concluded that the imported products have caused serious injury to the Applicant and the Supporter of the Application. For this reason, it proposed to the Minister of Finance to impose specific duty whose amount will be progressively liberalized in the second year and the third year of the imposition period as shown in the table below.

Due to the de minimis rule, several developing countries have been excluded from this safeguard measure.
