On 7 September 2015 Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI) initiated a safeguard investigation on Hot Rolled Coils imported into Malaysia based on application filed by Megasteel Sdn.Bhd.

The Products Under Investigation fall within the HS Code of 7298.36.000, 7208.37.000, 7208.38.000, 7208.39.200, 7208.39.900 and 7225.30.000, and ASEAN Harmonized Tariff Nomenclature (AHTN) 7208.36.00.00, 7208.37.00.00, 7208.38.00.00, 7208.39.00.20, 7208.39.00.90 and 7225.30.90.00.

The import volume ofHot Rolled Coils to Malaysia in2012 – 2014 were 694.305 MT, 807.647 MT, and 898.023 MT respectively. The import products have increased by 11% in 2014.

Any interested party who wish to request a questionnaire shall notify MITI no later than fifteen days after the initiation of this case.
