Based on its investigation which was initiated on 14 May 2008, KPPI proposed to the Minister of Trade for the imposition of a safeguard measure on Dextrose Monohydrate or Glucose (HS code 1702.30.10.00  and 1702.40.00.00).

Eventually, the Minister of Finance issued Decree No. 133/PMK.011/2009 dated 24 August 2009 that imposes specific safeguards duty on the imported product for a period of three years from 24 August 2009 to 23 August 2012, with progressive liberalization each year as shown in the table below.

Several developing countries were excluded from the measure due to the de minimis rule, i.e. Argentina, Hong Kong, India, Taiwan, Philippines, Singapore, and Turkey.
