After approximately two months of investigation, KPPI has eventually concluded its safeguards investigation on Mackerel (HS Codes 0302.64.00.00 and 0303.74.00.00).

In its notification to the WTO, circulated on 5 March 2012, KPPI found clear evidence that the Indonesian businesses related to fisheries suffer a serious injury. The businesses were represented by the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries of the Republic of Indonesia in filing their application.

Based on its investigation, KPPI has then proposed to the Government of the Republic of Indonesia to impose a specific safeguard duty on the importation of mackerel into Indonesia for a period of 3 (three) years, commencing from the date of enactment of the Minister of Finance’s Decree imposing such a duty. Such a decree is not yet available for public.
