On 22 August 2016, Indonesian Anti-Dumping Committee (Komite Anti Dumping Indonesia/KADI)initiated an antidumping investigation for imports of Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) from Malaysia, Republic of Korea, and China. The investigation was initated based on a petition submitted by Indonesia’s Association of Producers of Fiber and Filament Yarn (Asosiasi Produsen Serat dan Benang Filamen Indonesia), which represents the domestic industry of Indonesia.
Polyethylene terephthalate is a resin of thermoplast plastic polymer from the polyster group, mostly used in synthetic fibers, water bottles and food containers, thermoforming applications, and combined with glass fiber in engineering resins.
This investigation covers PET falling under the HS codes of 3907.60.10.00, 3907.60.20.00, and 3907.60.90.00. Total imports of PET into Indonesia on 2015 was 226.379 tons; and 201.037 tons or 89 per cent of which originates from the alleged countries.
KADI provides opportunity for any interested parties to participate in this investigation at the latest 14 days after the initiation date.
