On 28 December 2012, the Indonesian Safeguard Authority (KPPI) initiated a safeguard investigation on imports of Kilowatt Hours Meters including its parts and accessories classified under H.S. 9028.30.10.00 and 9028.90.90.00.

The initiation is based on a petition submitted by PT Mecoindo substantiating the existence of increase imports that results in serious injury suffered by the domestic industry.

KPPI invited all interested parties to submit their views to be considered for the investigation.
