Starting in September 2012, imported ceramic tablewares (HS 6911.10.00.00, 6911.90.00.00, 6912.00.00.00), ceramic toilet (HS 6910.10.00.00, 6910.90.00.00), and ceramic tiles (HS 6907.10.00.00, 6907.90.00.00, 6908.10.10.00, 6908.90.10.00, 6908.90.90.00) coming to Indonesia will have to fulfill the Indonesian National Standard with SNI No. 7275:2008, 03-0797-2006, and ISO 13006:2010 respectively. This new policy will be made compulsory based on the Decree of the Ministry of Industry No. 45/2012.

In order to protect Indonesian consumers, the government claims that the SNI must be imposed. By the policy, the government will be able to control the quality of the imported products which enter into the Indonesian domestic market. The government considers that there have been many low quality imported products entering into Indonesia lately.
