India Begins Anti Dumping Investigation Concerning Imports of “Plain Medium Density Board” Originating from Vietnam, Malaysia, Thailand and Indonesia

On 22 April 2020 Government of India initiated anti dumping investigation on imported Plain Medium Density Board from Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia and Thailand based on a request filed by M/s Greenply Industries Limited, M/s Greenpanel Industries Limited, and M/s Century Plyboards Ltd., as the domestic producer of the product concerned on behalf of the Indian Industry.

 

The product under investigation is plain medium density board, which also calls Plain MDF Board used for partition, modular furniture, cabinets, etc. The Product Under Investigation is classified under Chapter 4 of the Act, under sub-headings 44111200 and 44111300. The subject goods are imported under other tariff sub-headings also i.e. 44119219, 44119229, 44119319, 441199419 as well. However, for Plain MDF Board having thickness of 6 mm or more is excluded from the product scope.

 

The period of investigation is 2019 (January – December) and the injury investigation period shall cover the periods April 2016 – March 2017, April 2017 – March 2018, April 2018 – March 2019 and the POI.

 

India allows interested parties to present their opinion and submit the questionnaire responses within 60 days from the date of the publication of the notification due to the special circumstance arising out of COVID-19 pandemic.
