DGAD Begins Anti Dumping Investigation on Imported Saccharin Originating From Indonesia
21 June 2018

On 14 June 2018, DGAD initiated anti dumping investigation on imported Saccharin originating from Indonesia, based on the petition filled by M/s Swati Petro Products Pvt Limited as the major producer of the product under investigation in India.

The Product Under Investigation is saccharin, which classified under Chapter 29 of the Customs Tariff Act, 1975 under sub- 2 headings No. 29251100. Saccharin is a non-nutritive sweetener and considered to be low calorie substitute for cane sugar. In general, there are two types of Saccharin i.e. soluble and insoluble.

Based on the request from the petitioner, DGAD has found sufficient evidence of dumping of the subject goods; injury to the domestic industry and causal link between the alleged dumping and injury exists to justify initiation of an anti-dumping investigation.
