Joseph Wira Koesnaidi, S.H., LL.M.

Mr. Koesnaidi is a prominent trade lawyer with over 10 years experience in Indonesian and International Trade Law. His primary area of expertise focuses on WTO Trade Remedies, WTO Dispute Settlement, IPR, Customs and Competition Law. And since 2016, he is also a member of Indonesia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN Indonesia).

 
He has extensive experience defending foreign and domestic clients throughout various stages of Indonesian Anti-dumping, Anti-subsidy and Safeguards Proceedings. Not only has he successfully representing a wide range of sectors in multiple jurisdictions (Indonesia, Australia, Brazil, Malaysia, India and the United States) Mr. Koesnaidi has also worked as a top advisor to the Indonesian Ministries of Trade, Industry, AND Marine Affairs and Fisheries.

PRIOR EXPERIENCES

Prior to founding JWK Law Office, Mr. Koesnaidi worked in the Legal Affairs Division at the WTO Secretariat in Geneva, Switzerland. He was responsible for providing legal advise and information to WTO dispute settlement panels, WTO member countries, as well as the WTO Secretariat itself. As the first Indonesian lawyer in the WTO Legal Affairs Division, Mr. Koesnaidi obtained unparalleled insight into WTO dispute settlement mechanismsin action. He was involved in 3 different panel cases at different stage of proceedings, namely US-Poultry case (DS 392); China-Raw Materials case (DS 394, DS 394, DS 398); and Philippines-Distilled Spirits case (DS 396, DS 403)

He has also acted as a trade lawyer for the Indonesia Trade Assistance Project (ITAP), under the auspices of USAID. As part of the ITAP legal team, Mr. Koesnaidi was involved in organizing seminars and training workshops on various WTO agreements, WTO trade remedies instruments (anti-dumping, subsidies and safeguards), WTO and ASEAN dispute settlement systems, as well as other domestic trade related issues.
